The Oakville Soccer Club is a dynamic not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional soccer experiences for the community.
We are seeking skilled and dedicated professionals to serve on our volunteer Board of Directors, contributing their expertise to shape the club's future.
This opportunity allows you to play a vital role in the governance of our organization, ensuring its continued growth and success.
What is a Governance Board?
A Governance Board is a strategic and policy-setting body responsible for guiding the organization. Its primary role is to establish high-level objectives, policies, and mission alignment. The Governance Board does not engage in day-to-day operational activities or individual team-related decisions.
We need individuals with professional skills interested in governance, community investment, and making a positive impact. A love for soccer and connection to the Oakville Soccer Club is welcomed. We seek professionals with expertise in key areas:
- Government Relations & Advocacy, including an understanding of local government structures and policies, and ability to cultivate strong relationships with local officials.
- Human Resources & Organizational Development, including experience in performance management, talent development, and executive coaching.
- Governance, Legal, and Compliance, with a strong understanding of legal principles relevant to non-profit organizations, and knowledge of corporate governance and compliance matters.
We highly encourage nominations of female candidates to enhance diversity and equity on our Board of Directors. We invite candidates from all backgrounds, emphasizing diversity and promoting women in leadership.
The Volunteer Commitment/Requirements
We ask applicants to participate in one committee of the Board (Finance, Strategy, Governance) and attend a brief meeting of the Board immediately following the AGM.
There will be three vacant positions on the board. We encourage you to consider this opportunity to contribute your expertise to the Oakville Soccer Club and make a positive impact on amateur sports in Oakville.
