Job Summary

The Behavioural Health Foundation is seeking a skilled Addictions Support Specialist to provide individual support to clients struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues. The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Director to provide direct supervision and treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to clients
  • Make referrals to the clinical therapist as needed
  • Develop and implement educational programs on mental health and substance use
  • Maintain accurate client records and files
  • Participate in staff meetings and case discussions

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or degree in a related field (e.g. community support worker, addictions and community service)
  • Experience working in a residential treatment setting is an asset
  • Knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs, and beliefs
  • Excellent interpersonal and counseling skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Conditions of Employment

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check and child abuse registry check
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate is considered an asset
