At Alttechnical, we are seeking a skilled Technical Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in Ottawa. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our computer systems and networks.

Job Description

This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing technical assistance to end-users, implementing system upgrades and patches, and maintaining documentation. Our Technical Infrastructure Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our IT infrastructure, contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond to monitoring alerts and customer-initiated tickets in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems efficiently
  • Escalate critical/high-priority issues to designated support teams within Service Level Agreement (SLA) guidelines
  • Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolutions
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and attitude
  • Provide reliable technical support to internal stakeholders
  • Monitor internal platforms using monitoring tools to identify potential issues
  • Manage assigned schedules, including maintenance windows, to ensure seamless operations
  • Stay up-to-date on operational activities by consistently accessing and reading NOC communications, including shift emails, incident tickets, installation information, and technical documentation
  • Ensure all test environments and production servers operate within specifications set forth by the owner department and/or service level agreement
  • Adhere to documented procedures and guidelines related to monitoring systems and platforms
  • Develop a deep understanding of how systems and platforms operate and interact
  • Interface with users, other teams, and service providers to resolve problems, perform day-to-day operational tasks
  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory records and infrastructure topology documentation
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Possess good knowledge of networking equipment, including configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Familiarity with Windows systems is required
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work under stressful conditions; ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of related work experience in a similar field
  • Knowledge of Windows Server technologies is an asset
  • Experience with database systems is desirable
