Job Description

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and implementation of technical infrastructure solutions to meet the business and operational requirements of NAV CANADA.

This position is based at the Ottawa TSC location but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest technology trends.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing network and security infrastructure projects of varying complexity.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems, including Wide Area Network (WAN), Metro Area Network (MAN), and Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity, as well as Firewall technologies and Data Center network technologies.

You will also contribute to the development of specifications, standards, evaluation criteria, and participate in the evaluation of complex solutions (in-house or commercial).

In this role, you will work closely with internal customers, stakeholders, and management to ensure that important aspects are not overlooked. You will also be responsible for providing technical documentation of infrastructure system and subsystem architecture and designs, specifications, processes, test cases, and scripts.

Requirements
  • Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science, or information systems, and at least 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience designing, testing, and implementing network and security infrastructure projects of varying complexity.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience in the Network and Firewall infrastructure domain.
Key Responsibilities
  • Designing, testing, and implementing network and security infrastructure projects of varying complexity.
  • Participating in requirements gathering and analysis, contributing to detailed plans, system architecture, designs, and specifications for the provision and implementation of infrastructure systems and technology solutions to meet business and/or operational, technical, security, protection, and safety requirements.
  • Participating in work required to develop, configure, enhance, update, test, and implement (including automation of) system and subsystem infrastructure components and technology solutions.
  • Providing technical documentation of infrastructure system and subsystem architecture and designs, specifications, processes, test cases, and scripts.
  • Contribute to the development of specifications, standards, evaluation criteria, and participate in the evaluation of complex solutions (in-house or commercial).
Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is between $90,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
