Job Title: Assistant Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor to join our faculty in the Department of Microbiology and Mathematics at The University of British Columbia. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary PrePARE research cluster, addressing the emergence and evolution of infectious disease.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematical theory or computational analysis of zoonotic pathogen biology, transmission, genomics, and/or evolution. They will be expected to develop an innovative, externally-funded and internationally-competitive research program; supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows; collaborate with faculty members; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in microbiology & immunology and mathematics; and participate in service to the departments, university, and academic/scientific community.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead an innovative research program in mathematical biology of zoonotic infections
  • Supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows
  • Collaborate with faculty members and participate in departmental service
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in microbiology & immunology and mathematics
Requirements:
  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Postdoctoral experience
  • Strong record of research achievements and publications
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills
What We Offer:

The University of British Columbia offers a competitive salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan.
