About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Indigenous Mental Health Project Specialist to join our team at Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative health initiatives that support Métis women and the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community.

Job Description
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project framework based on data collected from initial phases, ensuring it effectively addresses identified needs and gaps in mental health care for Métis women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals.
  • Nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, health service providers, and policymakers, to gather input and ensure project alignment with community priorities.
  • Conduct in-depth research on mental health policies and best practices related to Indigenous mental wellness, analyzing data to inform project strategies and decisions.
  • Champion changes within healthcare systems that support the mental wellness of Métis women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals, advocating for projects that uphold national and international human rights standards.
  • Integrate cultural sensitivity and awareness into all project activities, recognizing the unique barriers faced by Indigenous communities in accessing mental health care.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mental health, social work, psychology, Indigenous studies, public health, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in health, mental wellness, or social services, especially within Indigenous contexts.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous mental health challenges, particularly as they pertain to Métis communities and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Estimated Salary Range

$60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
