About the Role

We're seeking an in-house Labour and Employment Counsel for our Canadian operations. This role will handle a variety of employment and labour-related legal matters, including compliance, strategic advice, litigation, labour negotiations, investigations, and workplace grievance processes.

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide daily strategic legal and business advice on human resources and people-related matters.
  • Handle employment and labour law issues, including recruitment, employment contracts, terminations, human rights, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, policy drafting, and interpretation.
  • Represent the Company in employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and internal stakeholders to proactively manage employment-related claims.
  • Advise on occupational health and safety, compensation and benefit, worker's compensation, and privacy law-related matters.
  • Develop training programs, lead collective bargaining negotiations, and draft employment policies and handbooks.
Who we are looking for
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Law degree and admission to practice law in Ontario, with membership in the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Trial work, collective bargaining, and union management skills are advantageous.
  • Experience advising manufacturing operations is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills for effective advocacy in a non-technical manner.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with good business judgment and organizational abilities.
  • Self-confidence, authenticity, positive attitude, sense of humour, and a genuine care and concern for the people you serve.
