Labour and Employment Counsel, Canada

Magna International Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Labour and Employment Counsel to join its Canadian operations. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of employment and labour laws, as well as excellent strategic and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal advice on employment and labour-related matters, including compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Manage employment and labour law issues, including recruitment, employment contracts, terminations, and restructurings.
- Represent the company in employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to proactively manage employment-related claims.
- Advise on occupational health and safety, compensation and benefit, worker's compensation, and privacy law-related matters.
- Develop training programs and lead collective bargaining negotiations.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in labour and employment law.
- Law degree and admission to practice law in Ontario, with membership in the Law Society of Ontario.
- Trial work, collective bargaining, and union management skills are advantageous.
- Experience advising manufacturing operations is an asset.
- Strong communication skills for effective advocacy in a non-technical manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with good business judgment and organizational abilities.
