Nutrition Care Specialist


BC Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Nutrition Care Specialist to join their team.


Key Responsibilities



  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments of patients, utilizing established standards and guidelines.
  • Develop and implement patient-centred nutrition care plans, incorporating individual patient needs and cultural, social, and economic factors.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide recommendations on nutrition support regimes and adjust diet orders as needed.
  • Monitor patient progress, document nutrition assessments and care plans, and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide education and nutrition counselling to patients, families, and caregivers, and participate in interprofessional rounds and patient care conferences.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based nutrition management guidelines and education materials.
  • Ensure the implementation of nutrition care plans by communicating with food service staff and providing input into menu planning and diet writing guidelines.

Qualifications



  • Current full registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
  • Graduate of an accredited Dietetic Internship Program or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia with Restricted Activity A.
  • Eligible for registration with College of Dietitians of British Columbia with Restricted Activity B and C.
  • One year recent related experience working with the designated patient population in the relevant clinical services area.
