We are seeking a highly skilled Researcher - Technology Strategist to join our team at Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd. This is a 12-month contract position that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the development of innovative AI research projects, focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Embodied AI.
  • Implement algorithms for proposed models and applications, working closely with researchers in the team.
  • Stay up-to-date on selected areas of Machine Learning (ML) and write scientific reports.
  • Provide Technology Insights by identifying new opportunities and assessing gaps within our organization, applying these insights to technology planning and decision-making.
  • Lead or participate in major technology initiatives or large-scale applications, defining clear objectives and analyzing feasibility.
  • Develop a globally leading technology competitive strategy.
  • Communicate between HQ team and Canada team, translating technical reports or corporate documents as needed.
Requirements
  • Hold a PhD or MSc in Computer Science or related fields, or have equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin.
  • Strong knowledge of Deep Learning components and familiarity with DL architectures like Transformers, RNNs, GNN.
  • Experience applying machine learning models to real-world applications.
  • Deep understanding of foundation models, RAG, or decision-making & reasoning techniques.
  • Sharp technical insight and curiosity for emerging technologies.
  • Strong ability to learn quickly, with expertise in areas like computer vision, NLP, or robotics.
  • Effective planning skills, working on technology insights, business strategy, and planning with senior researchers.
  • Self-driven, good at networking, teamwork, and project management; publications in top AI conferences is an asset.
