Director of English Language Assessment and Education

Job Summary
The Director of English Language Assessment and Education is a critical role that oversees the planning, development, organization, staffing, implementation, marketing, and ongoing management of the IELTS Test Centre at Humber College's North Campus and other locations. This position also supports the planning, delivery, and development of Continuing Professional Learning (CPL) programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all Humber's IELTS Test Centres, including pre-planning, registration, staff resource allocation, test-day administration, post-test assessment, and score submission.
- Recruit, develop, manage, train, and evaluate a team of highly trained and motivated test examiners, invigilators, and support staff, maintaining an up-to-date roster of trained personnel.
- Liaise with the British Council on IELTS Test Centre operations and personnel, as well as mandated audits and training, responding to protocols and compliance directives from the Regional IELTS Team and the British Council.
- Oversee stakeholder inquiries, collaborating with support staff to respond to customer service interactions and de-escalate concerns and complaints from test takers and learners.
- Identify business development opportunities aligning with Humber's strategic priorities and core business for both the IELTS Test Centre and CPL programs, building relationships with internal departments, staff, and students to promote these initiatives.
- In collaboration with the Associate Dean, CPL, develop a marketing and business development plan for each fiscal year to promote IELTS and CPL programs within Humber, domestically and internationally, as necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A 4-year degree in Education, Management/Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
- TESL Ontario certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of combined managerial experience working directly with adult learners, test takers, or language centres, including administration, operation, and management of a team, unit, or department.
- 5 years ESL teaching experience.
- 2-3 years experience working as an IELTS Examiner or managing an IELTS Test Centre, Language Centre, or Continuing Education unit is preferred.
- Experience managing operations in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting, and project management skills.
- Experience in developing strategic partnerships with internal and external organizations.
- Experience in marketing and developing new business opportunities, program development, and delivery.
Salary Range
$85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
