Job Summary

The Shop Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day activities of the shop personnel, ensuring that all company objectives are met in regards to safety, quality, productivity, and cost. This position reports to the Focus Shop Manager, and shop personnel report directly to this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Compliance: Hold safety meetings, perform monthly safety audits, and issue work orders to maintenance for any malfunctioning or unsafe machinery.
  • Schedule Achievement: Work with Schedulers to achieve daily targets, order special tools, and resolve deficiencies with components.
  • Manage Shop Personnel: Manage shop personnel according to collective agreement, maintain a professional relationship with employees, and provide coaching and issue discipline as needed.
  • Cost Objectives: Monitor production levels, provide computer manual labor inputs, and develop cost improvement activities.
  • Training: Ensure all employees are trained in BWXT's procedures and support quality objectives and safety objectives.
Qualifications
  • College Diploma (Technical, Welding Technician, Fitter, Fabricator, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with SAP is an asset.
