Job Title: Junior QA Specialist - Systems Testing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior QA Specialist to join our team at Maarut Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing and reconciling tests to ensure the effective and timely completion of QA/testing tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Support QA leads in executing and reconciling tests to ensure the effective and timely completion of QA/testing tasks.
  • Assist in establishing QA processes best practices and templates under the guidance of QA leads or senior analysts.
  • Contribute to the development of QA test plans, test cases, and test scenarios under the supervision of senior QA team members.
  • Develop an understanding of the system, focusing on learning how changes impact the system functionality.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in requirements or implementation by participating in detailed testing of the system changes.
  • Help in verifying all business rules, data field specifications, and other validations implemented according to requirements.
  • Assist in verifying the application and system flow, ensuring the system functions are expected.
  • Prepare test data and participate in data testing and reconciliation activities.
  • Execute test cases and test scenarios according to the test plan and report defects in QA testing tools.
  • Assist in performing regression tests as well as integration tests with different modules of the system application.
  • Assist in functional and Accessibility Compliance testing under the supervision of experienced QA leads or senior team members.
  • Responsible for problem identification, creating, and updating defect reports with the help of senior staff.
  • Document and perform test results and provide feedback to the QA leads.
  • Participate in daily standup meetings and collaborate with QA and other project teams to understand the progress and issues.
  • Contribute to providing test summaries and daily status reports as directed by the QA lead.
  • Assist with Change Management processes by following established guidelines.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing sessions and document learnings as instructed by QA leads.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work with Development teams and other cross-functional teams to support project and customer issue resolution.
  • Follow government software development standards, including System Development Life Cycle and Project Management Life Cycle.
  • Complete assigned work and milestones within set deadlines.
  • Notify the Manager/leads in writing of any issues or other material concerns related to the assignment deliverables.
  • Submit deliverables for the Cluster/Ministry approval as they are completed.
  • Adhere to Ontario Government and Ministry security procedures and practices.

QA Skills:

  • 25 years of experience in executing testing-related activities and data reconciliation for large complex business-critical systems with support from Senior team members.
  • 25 years of experience in assisting with test planning, test cases, and expected test results for complex business systems under the guidance of QA leads.
  • Some experience in conducting data analysis, cleansing, conversion, and reconciliation on large complex systems with oversight from Sr QA staff.
  • 25 years of experience in executing test cases and scenarios for large complex systems with a focus on understanding and following detailed test plans.
  • Good coordination and organizational skills to assist with QA activities, managing tasks within timelines, and handling competing priorities.
  • Some experience in Accessibility testing aligned with AODA standards.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of workflow portfolio management and rule-driven business solutions.
  • Familiarity with web-based 3-tier software platforms.
  • Proficiency with testing tools and problem tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla, Microfocus Product Suite).
  • Good understanding of Oracle database tools.
  • Proficient in desktop tools (Visio, MS Office, MS Project, MS Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of custom implementations and COTS implementations, including IBM JRules Engine.
  • Working knowledge of web-based application development.
  • Familiarity with Accessibility testing tools like WAVES, JAWS, NVDA, and Compliance Sheriff.

General Skills:

  • Effective coordination across cross-functional teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Public Sector Experience:

  • Exposure to the Public Sector either as a vendor representative or under contract with a government ministry or agency.

MUST HAVES:

  • 25 years of experience in executing testing-related activities and data reconciliation for large complex business-critical systems with support from Senior team members.
  • Proficiency with testing tools and problem tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla, Microfocus Product Suite).
