In alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Provincial Health Services Authority, patient safety is a fundamental priority shared by all personnel at PHSA. This role encompasses qualified working-level positions requiring direct laboratory experience and knowledge of specific research methodologies pertinent to the hiring laboratory. Under supervision, incumbents will conduct experiments adhering to established laboratory protocols and report to the Department Head, Principal Investigator, or designated authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute a range of established technical procedures in accordance with documented protocols.
- Accurately document results, including data entry into computer systems.
- Provide feedback on procedural modifications as requested by the Department Head, Principal Investigator, or designated authority.
- Organize and maintain test materials and products.
- Oversee the inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- May instruct less experienced assistants on work methods or procedures as designated.
- Obtain patient consent for study participation, coordinate appointments, and manage databases.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess an educational background, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Bachelor of Science) along with two (2) years of recent experience in a research laboratory setting. Individuals with a medical background and prior research experience involving patient interaction, or those pursuing careers in healthcare, are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience working with patients in a clinical environment.
- Ability to uphold patient confidentiality.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, a solid work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail.

- A commitment to fostering meaningful reconciliation in Canada, in accordance with TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Awareness of the social, economic, political, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities, along with familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism initiatives (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Salary Range: $57,447 - $75,268 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated for part-time roles.
