Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technologist to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and testing various gases and gas systems for odorant levels and other contaminants.
Responsibilities:- Collect and analyze gas samples to determine odorant levels and other contaminants.
- Monitor the quality of gas purchased by pipeline from transmission companies and tank cars.
- Prepare reports and advise relevant groups of results.
- Compute odorant bulk tank filling schedule requirements.
- Research and develop recommendations for odorant levels in gas systems.
- Organize and maintain the laboratory, including selecting and expediting equipment.
- Develop and implement standards and procedures for handling chemicals and chemical analysis.
- Act as a liaison with Transport Canada inspectors and transmission companies.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary technologist diploma in an appropriate discipline.
- Certification at the technologist level by the Applied Sciences Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia.
- Six years of directly related relevant experience.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Computer literacy and strong oral and written communication skills.
