Position Overview:

This role presents an exciting opportunity within the rapidly evolving field of transportation technology. The public transit landscape is shifting from static, scheduled routes to a more dynamic, on-demand network, and you will play a pivotal role in this transformation.

You will be part of a compact, agile team responsible for managing RideCo's cloud and internal engineering infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong enthusiasm for developing top-tier infrastructure and a proven history of success in creating highly available, scalable, automated, and distributed systems. Strong systems experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback on technical designs and implementations are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, construct, and oversee both cloud-based and in-house infrastructure.
  • Spearhead architectural modifications that enhance performance and reliability.
  • Develop and promote monitoring and alerting systems, both technically and culturally.
  • Create or implement tools that facilitate development and deployment processes.
  • Architect highly available real-time distributed applications.
  • Work with a variety of technology stacks, including both stateful and stateless services.
  • Enhance the platform's auto-scaling and self-healing functionalities.
  • Optimize the use of cloud resources to balance performance and cost efficiency.
  • Plan and execute operating system and application upgrades in the cloud environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development environments.
  • Proficiency in system administration (Linux).
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD, Jenkins).
  • Experience in building and maintaining highly available distributed applications.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting applications (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, EC2, ECS, RDS).
  • Strong inclination towards automation (IaC, Terraform).
  • Proficient scripting skills and experience in developing diverse, robust tools (Python, Shell).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Python programming and web application development (Django, Flask, Gunicorn).
  • Knowledge of web server deployments and performance optimization (nginx).
  • Proficiency with container-based build infrastructures (Docker, pipelines).
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
  • Understanding of high availability caching mechanisms (Redis, nginx proxy).
  • Familiarity with distributed task queues (RabbitMQ).
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS).
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Enthusiasm for acquiring new skills and exploring new domains.

Compensation and Benefits:
