Key Responsibilities

The VP of Public Relations and Community Engagement will play a crucial role in aligning our communication strategies with our organizational goals. The position encompasses a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to the following:

Media Relations

  1. Establishing and nurturing robust connections with local, regional, and national media outlets.
  2. Fostering relationships with industry publications and their editorial teams.
  3. Collaborating closely with the Advertising, Branding, and Corporate Voice departments to curate impactful content for dissemination.
  4. Implementing and overseeing Digital Engagement tools to enhance the organization's visibility and sentiment across various platforms.
Government Relations
  1. Remaining informed about current and upcoming government policies that may influence the organization and its clientele, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to respond effectively.
  2. Formulating and executing a strategic plan to strengthen ties with government representatives.
  3. Creating materials for both internal and external communications, including position statements, talking points, and white papers.
  4. Partnering with credible industry advocates to support shared interests.
  5. Engaging in lobbying efforts for significant government policy considerations when necessary.
Sponsorship and Community Engagement
  1. Designing and managing a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to enhance the organization's impact within the communities we serve.
  2. Strategically allocating sponsorship funds to achieve corporate objectives through community engagement initiatives.
  3. Taking a leading role in high-impact sponsorships to ensure optimal activation.
  4. Assessing the value of community opportunities to maximize our investment-to-impact ratio.
Internal Communications
  1. Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of their challenges and opportunities.
  2. Developing and managing strategies to enhance internal communication efforts (emails, town halls, newsletters, publications, employee contests, etc.).
  3. Exploring and implementing internal communication and engagement tools such as Facebook Workplace, Microsoft Yammer, and others.
Issues Management
  1. Leading the development of strategies for managing issues as necessary.
Public Speaking
  1. Representing Brandt at various events, including trade shows, press conferences, and other special occasions.
