Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing direct client intervention, conducting assessments, developing intervention plans, consultation, providing therapeutic programming, and caregiver training to support the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments with referred clients to identify strengths and needs, and utilize standardized testing as a component of the assessment process.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services as needed to assist clients in gaining skills for everyday life, school, and relationships.
  • Support clients to identify and work toward realistic goals, and manage client caseload and prioritize appropriately.
  • Meet regularly with the clinical team for collaboration and planning, and assess the need for therapeutic groups and implement accordingly.
  • Assist the team in problem-solving to address client issues, and facilitate topic-specific training sessions as needed.
  • Engage caregivers and care team in the assessment and treatment process, and maintain appropriate clinical documentation and fulfill administrative duties.
  • Share relevant information with and provide consultation to collateral agencies such as Child and Family Service Agencies and schools, and work within the context of the interdisciplinary team to implement direct, consultative or medicated models of service.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate or Clinical Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration is required with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM) with the incumbent's name entered in the practicing register or the provisional register as an examination candidate.
  • Expertise in the area of child and adolescent mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and cooperatively with other disciplines.
  • Ability to practice independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Current certification in either DLE (The Purposeful Use of Daily Life Events) or TCS (Therapeutic Crisis Solutions) or willingness to obtain the same.
  • Current First-aid/CPR certification.
  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and De-escalation training or willingness to obtain the same.
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children/adolescents and their families.
  • Knowledge of the child welfare system in Manitoba.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, beliefs, and practices.
What We Offer

The Link offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $65,000 annually, including vacation, paid sick leave, benefit plan, and pension plan. The position requires 35 hours of work per week.
