At LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, we have over 50 years of experience in providing essential laboratory testing services that assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing, treating, monitoring, and preventing diseases. We are currently seeking a Laboratory Patient Care Technician to become a vital part of our organization.
Role Overview: As a Laboratory Patient Care Technician, you will play a crucial role in the specimen collection process. Your responsibilities will include welcoming patients, ensuring they understand the collection process, and preparing specimens for transportation. This position is integral to patient care and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patients' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and gather necessary information, explaining the specimen collection process while ensuring compliance with testing protocols.
- Conduct phlebotomies, connect and disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
- Execute specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings and paternity tests, while completing all required documentation.
- Maintain strong client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Perform data entry for patient demographics, requisition details, and other information pertinent to processing test results.
- Prepare specimens for subsequent transportation and testing.
The ideal candidate will prioritize exceptional customer service and be able to connect with patients and clients, even in challenging situations. Essential qualities include: empathy, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
- Experience in phlebotomy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Ability to uphold the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
