About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Design Specialist to join our team at Dennis Group. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating innovative and functional building designs that meet the needs of our clients in the food industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project managers, senior designers, engineers, and technical specialists to develop building designs that meet client requirements;
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards;
  • Prepare and present design concepts and proposals to clients and stakeholders;
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences, and to develop designs that meet their expectations;
  • Participate in design team collaboration to achieve optimal design and value for clients;
  • Develop and maintain expertise in food industry building design requirements through research and professional experience;
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design and building codes;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to promote the company's services and expertise;
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Diploma or certificate in architectural design/engineering from a recognized college, university or training institution;
  • 5-7 years' experience as a designer, structural technologist, architectural technologist, CAD technician, BIM designer, engineer or a similar role;
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency with AutoCAD or REVIT;
  • Demonstrated working understanding of the Ontario Building Code and the National Building Code;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong technical, organizational, coordination, and communication skills, as demonstrated through previous project work;
  • Demonstrated ability and interest to work as part of a team;
  • Desire to develop skills and expand career;
  • Proven experience with office software such as the MS Office Suite;
  • Experience in the food sector is considered an asset but is not a requirement.
