Facilities Maintenance Lead

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Lead is tasked with overseeing and guiding a dedicated maintenance team. This pivotal role is responsible for directing the maintenance strategy and ensuring the effective execution of the work-order system, thereby upholding the highest standards of machinery efficiency and product quality.

Through proactive engagement and hands-on involvement, this position will facilitate all technical and maintenance functions carried out within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a safety-first culture by actively promoting adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in and lead initiatives focused on quality improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with the maintenance strategy and work-order system, including scheduling, documentation review, and approvals.
  • Supervise and support maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and resolving equipment-related issues.
  • Diagnose and rectify electro-mechanical faults and quality concerns; implement immediate corrective actions and preventive strategies.
  • Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions with a customer-centric approach.
  • Manage, schedule, mentor, and train a team of maintenance technicians.
  • Utilize and uphold a progressive disciplinary framework for staff development.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with team members to foster a positive work environment.
  • Organize and allocate manpower according to production requirements.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to enhance productivity and product quality, adjusting processes and equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct training for staff on job responsibilities, safety measures, and company policies.
  • Advise on personnel decisions, including hiring and promotions.
  • Provide management with insights on process improvements to achieve greater operational efficiencies.

Assist in evaluating employee performance related to ongoing technical training and development.

Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with external contractors for necessary work.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant technical role such as Industrial Electrician, Maintenance Mechanic, Millwright, or Electronics Technician, preferably within the food manufacturing sector.

Proven experience in training, coaching, and supervising teams.

Post-secondary education in a technical discipline is preferred.

Possession of a 433A license or Red Seal Certification is advantageous; equivalent experience with a willingness to obtain certification is acceptable.

Proficient in computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite.

Familiarity with Preventative Maintenance and CMMS systems is essential.
