Position Overview:

The Facility Maintenance Attendant is tasked with ensuring that the premises of the organization are maintained in a clean, safe, and appealing manner. While the primary duties are not directly related to program services, this role may involve providing basic assistance to clients, such as distributing essential supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Manage client belongings, ensuring they are stored, retrieved, and cataloged according to established protocols.
  • Complete all assigned tasks during shifts as outlined in the position's task list.
  • Regularly clean and maintain all equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Conduct bed bug inspections in collaboration with the Lead Housekeeper and follow necessary bagging and tagging procedures.
  • Promptly report any property or equipment damage to the Environmental Services Director.
  • Assist with wellness checks as time allows.
  • Adhere to the Standards and Policies & Procedures of the organization in all duties performed.
  • Engage in regular staff meetings to discuss operational effectiveness, policy changes, and training opportunities.
  • Offer suggestions for improving efficiency and working conditions to the Support Services Manager as appropriate.

Health and Safety:

  • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and the organization's health and safety policies.
  • Collaborate with security personnel to identify safety and security needs.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment and clothing as directed.
  • Report any workplace hazards or injuries promptly.
  • Work in accordance with prescribed safety protocols and equipment.

Perform additional duties related to the position as required.

Working Conditions:

Flexibility in scheduling is essential. Work hours will be determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary based on operational needs. Shifts include a paid meal break, and the facility operates 24/7.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Secondary School Diploma.
  • Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • At least two years of experience in a janitorial or maintenance-related role.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Proficient in professional cleaning methods and procedures.
  • Demonstrates janitorial and maintenance skills at a high level.
  • Capable of operating mechanized cleaning equipment.
  • Exhibit care and caution in handling the organization's property.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Work independently while also being an active team member.
  • Participate in mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
  • Engage in regular performance evaluations and supervision.
  • Represent the organization positively and professionally.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and relevant legislation.
  • Possess strong communication skills and respect for authority.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and discipline.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability.
  • Lead by example with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • Display excellent organizational skills and follow detailed instructions.
