Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager plays a pivotal role within the leadership team, overseeing the daily operations and management of the Finance and Payroll divisions. This role encompasses the planning and organization of departmental functions, including human resources, quality assurance, risk management, and fiscal responsibilities, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards relevant to the service areas.

The Finance Manager is instrumental in delivering insights, analyses, and recommendations to both leadership and senior management, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes across clinical, operational, and strategic domains. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Senior Leadership to establish and implement departmental priorities, policies, and objectives.
  • Evaluating team responsibilities and best practices to foster a focused and goal-oriented departmental team.
  • Assisting in both short-term and long-term departmental planning aligned with the organization's strategic vision.
  • Ensuring optimal resource utilization through active participation in utilization reviews and resource allocation strategies.

  • Presenting the Annual Budget to the Leadership Team in collaboration with the VP of Corporate Services.
  • Conducting monthly financial closes and delivering clear, concise, and timely financial analyses to the Leadership Team.
  • Assisting Leadership Team members in preparing departmental budgets and capital equipment requests.
  • Supporting the VP Corporate Services in developing quarterly financial presentations for the Board Resource & Audit Committee.
  • Preparing and monitoring the departmental operating budget for Financial Services.
  • Evaluating and supporting business plan development to enhance hospital efficiency, focusing on revenue generation and cost control.
  • Ensuring the integrity of financial and statistical coding, payroll files, and system configurations.
  • Developing appropriate reports on financial and performance indicators for organizational decision-making.
  • Reviewing financial/statistical reports for completeness and accuracy before forwarding them for final approval.
  • Implementing processes to ensure compliance with Broader Public Sector policies and external reporting requirements.
  • Overseeing the year-end audit process and managing leases with external parties.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of all functions within the Finance Department, Payroll, and Business Office.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; a Master's in Business or Hospital Administration is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a leadership role is essential.
