About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead and contribute to the execution of projects in conceptual, design, construction, commissioning, and operational phases for our clients in the Energy, Industrial, and Mining sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters to prepare deliverables to BBA and client standards;
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering design packages, including reports, studies, estimates, budgets, schedules, drawings, calculations, specifications, quotations, proposals, and presentations;
  • Develop and implement work methods;
  • Perform site inspections, testing, and commissioning at client sites, locally and abroad;
  • Oversee and prepare proposals, including scoping, cost estimates, and schedules;
  • Manage and lead single and multidisciplinary project work packages, including preparing budgets and schedules, and tracking deliverable progress;
  • Train, coach, mentor, and supervise intermediate and junior Engineers, Technicians, and drafters;
  • Maintain and grow business relationships and the quality of BBA's professional services.
Requirements
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or similar;
  • 20+ years of relevant project experience;
  • Registered with EGBC as a or eligible to register with EGBC as a within the next year;
  • A valid class 5 BC driver's license;
  • Excellent communication skills with high competency in English (both spoken and written);
  • Ability to travel on short notice to customer sites and other BBA offices;
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving technical documents, such as studies, reports, specifications, calculations, plans, and instructions;
  • Experience preparing and reviewing design deliverables, such as single-line diagrams, layouts, elevations, material lists, cable and termination schedules, etc.;
  • Experience preparing and reviewing project estimates;
  • Familiarity with IEEE Color Books, CEC, and NEC.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of HV & MV substations, including site layouts, reactive equipment, switching equipment, grounding, shielding, power distribution, and lighting;
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment specifications, testing, and commissioning;
  • Experience with ETAP, CDEGS, PSSE, SKM Power Tools, or other software packages;
  • Experience with projects in the Mining or Industrial sectors;
  • Experience in troubleshooting, commissioning, and system installation;
  • Experience leading and managing projects, including design reviews, costs, and schedules;
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical installation safety;
  • In-depth knowledge of MV and HV equipment and apparatus.
