As a Personal Support Worker at RhynoCare, you will deliver essential assistance for daily living activities while adhering to corporate policies and established healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support registered nursing staff in executing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation in compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Adopt a holistic approach to resident care that aligns with RhynoCare's Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Assist residents during meal services and provide necessary support.
  • Facilitate restorative nursing efforts to enhance resident well-being.
  • Collaborate effectively to ensure seamless resident care throughout your shifts.
  • Deliver care in accordance with current legislation, best practices, and corporate policies.
  • Engage in risk management initiatives related to resident care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement efforts aimed at enhancing resident care.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation for all care provided during assigned shifts.
  • Mentor new staff and students as needed, promoting educational growth.
  • Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings focused on resident safety.
  • Encourage effective communication and teamwork among shifts and staff.
  • Comply with all health and safety protocols, including:
    • Utilizing proper body mechanics during daily tasks.
    • Operating equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
    • Following established safety procedures for equipment lockouts.
    • Wearing appropriate safety gear and PPE when required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate in a second language is advantageous.
  • Must fulfill one of the following educational criteria:
    • Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized institution OR
    • Completion of Year 1 in RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy programs.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is a plus.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray required.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance standards as per the Public Hospitals Act.
  • Recent Vulnerable Sector Screening confirming no criminal history.
