Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner Marine Atlantic Inc

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our Labour Relations team in North Sydney, NS. As a key member of our HR team, you will provide strategic and operational HR services to management and employees, focusing on people-related issues impacting our business unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching and advisory services to managers/supervisors on HR matters such as complaints, disputes, and disciplinary investigations.
  • Administer multiple collective agreements, including providing interpretation and clarification to managers and supervisors.
  • Investigate complaints and participate in disciplinary investigations and meetings.
  • Provide education and information to managers and employees on key HR programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local union representatives and individual employees.
  • Ensure regular communication with union leadership regarding potential or identified issues within the business unit.
  • Research and provide data, facts, and supporting material for grievances, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings.
  • Participate in collective bargaining and negotiations as required.
  • Support business change initiatives and projects related to HR matters.
Requirements:
  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
  • Minimum three to five years of experience in a relevant role.
  • Experience in proper interpretation and application of company policies, collective agreement provisions, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal, impact, and influence skills with the ability to engage others effectively.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to function effectively with a high degree of interdependence and autonomy.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
