Role: Infrastructure Platform Specialist
Team: Technical Operations
Position Overview:
The Infrastructure Platform Specialist role requires a highly skilled individual with a robust technical background in delivering mission-critical infrastructure, utilizing DevOps methodologies. The ideal candidate will oversee project delivery, escalation support, capacity management, and documentation for Squarepoint's platform infrastructure. Responsibilities include architecting, building, and maintaining automated solutions for production support and user-facing services. The role also involves designing, monitoring, and scaling both private and public cloud infrastructures, while providing clear and professional documentation. Furthermore, the candidate will manage projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, automate routine tasks using scripting and configuration management tools, and implement and/or coordinate changes in accordance with approved change control policies. The position demands the ability to provide escalation support to resolve performance and availability issues, identify areas for improvement, and adopt automated and innovative solutions. The candidate must be adaptable, thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment, and possess the capacity to learn and grow from peers.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience working with Linux (RHEL/CentOS/OEL preferred) in an enterprise setting, focusing on operations, systems engineering, and containerization.
- Proficiency in configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker/Podman, or other containerization technologies.
- Familiarity with developing and deploying containers via GitOps pipelines using tools like Gitlab-ci and ArgoCD (including Helm and Kustomize).
- Experience managing software or protocols such as Gitlab, Consul, Kafka, Artifactory (Jfrog), AWX/Tower, Tableau, and various SSO solutions (OpenID, SAML, Kerberos).
- Proficient in scripting or development in Python, Ruby (Chef), Go, or Bash.
- Well-organized, proactive, resourceful, and capable of managing a fast-paced environment while questioning the status quo.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address troubleshooting challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related Information Technology experience.
Nice to have:
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Helm, Ansible, Pulumi, Bicep).
- Background in designing highly available systems.
- Familiarity with various cloud providers (AWS and GCP).
- Experience in disaster recovery management utilizing cloud-specific capabilities.
- Knowledge of Cloud Storage concepts (Block storage/Blob storage).
- Experience with job scheduling tools such as Airflow, Prefect Scheduler, and Slurm (or other HPC schedulers).
- Ability to design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid delivery and integration of platform services.
