Position Overview

The Field Specialist for Substations and Power plays a critical role in the successful execution of the RSSOM contract, which encompasses the design, manufacturing, delivery, testing, and commissioning of the OL rolling stock and associated rail systems. This position is essential for ensuring the seamless integration and assurance of the overall project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the construction activities related to the RSSOM Step Up Sub-Station (SUSS) and other power supply components for the OL rail system.
  • Maintain comprehensive daily logs of observations, including site personnel, materials, equipment, completed work, and any issues encountered.
  • Evaluate deliverables and submissions from the RSSOM Contractor, focusing on construction support for substations and power systems, while identifying any non-conformances that may impact project success.
  • Ensure that all construction activities adhere to contractual obligations regarding health, safety, environmental standards, quality, scheduling, and cost efficiency.
  • Report on project progress, assess risks, and escalate any emerging issues to the Project Manager.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and actions aimed at addressing non-conformances and mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate with discipline leads to leverage subject matter expertise in health & safety, environmental considerations, quality assurance, contracts, and project controls.
  • Foster strong relationships with the RSSOM Contractor's site team to enhance collaboration and project outcomes.
  • Validate progress reports and other documentation prepared by the DP and RSSOM Contractor against personal observations and records.
  • Provide insights for the DP progress reports related to the RSSOM substations and power initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of pertinent work experience; a degree in electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in managing infrastructure mega-projects, particularly rail projects in urban settings.

Essential Skills:

  • Prior experience in construction supervision roles for infrastructure projects of similar complexity and scope.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) standards.
  • Dedication to a Zero Accident safety culture.
