Opportunity Overview

Aecon Utilities is seeking a highly skilled Substation Superintendent to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering projects faster, smarter, and safer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contracts and quality standards.
  • Manage day-to-day operations at project sites and yards, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
  • Coordinate and monitor administration, scheduling, and construction functions to achieve project goals.
  • Represent the company with owners and stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and relationships.
  • Implement and monitor safety and environmental policies, as well as quality control plans.
  • Oversee compliance with local legislative requirements and union agreements, as applicable.
  • Direct and maintain communication and morale of project staff, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Review and approve project cost reports, verifying accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in the bid process and perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Technical school background and at least ten years of substation maintenance and construction experience.
  • Experience in power distribution and transmission line work up to 230kV.
  • Experience in the utility contracting industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Sound knowledge of HV construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals.
  • Experience with contract and subcontract management.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform shift work, as required.
  • Ability to travel as required.
