Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Maintenance and Engineering Director, overseeing the engineering mission in alignment with established vision and objectives
- Manage production processes, human resources, capital investments, environmental considerations, and health and safety protocols
- Inspire, develop, and manage the performance of your team and individual contributors
- Ensure a safe working environment and promote a culture of accountability
- Implement, adhere to, and standardize best practices
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and other departments to meet departmental and organizational goals
- Monitor daily priorities and performance metrics in your area
- Develop and execute action plans to achieve objectives
- Work with maintenance, operations, and service managers to fulfill plant objectives
- Establish engineering goals aligned with strategic objectives and corporate directives
- Prepare, manage, and oversee the budget for your area
- Create and maintain a multi-year investment plan
- Monitor, execute, and sustain various plant programs (corporate, governmental, and others)
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Membership in the OIQ is required
- Relevant experience in project management
- Over 10 years of experience in team leadership
- Proficient in English
- Familiarity with wood processing equipment and processes, particularly in Kraft pulp and paper manufacturing, is advantageous
- Strong leadership and communication abilities, promoting teamwork
- Proactive in finding solutions, encouraging and supporting change
- Detail-oriented in monitoring work, schedules, and budgets, fostering a learning environment
- Ability to synthesize complex technical information and present projects with a focus on benefits, costs, and risks
This role necessitates interaction with suppliers, partners, and American subsidiaries on a regular basis, both verbally and in writing.
