Chief Executive Officer

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking a visionary and courageous Chief Executive Officer to lead its conservation efforts and drive innovation in the field of zoological conservation.

About the Role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic leadership to the Wilder Institute and the Calgary Zoo, working closely with the Board of Directors and the leadership team to achieve the organization's mission and goals.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of building and sustaining innovative partnerships, working with diverse stakeholders, and driving conservation efforts that make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Wilder Institute and the Calgary Zoo
  • Develop and implement conservation strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals
  • Build and sustain innovative partnerships with local, national, and international organizations
  • Work with diverse stakeholders to drive conservation efforts and achieve meaningful impact
  • Lead the transformation of the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo into a preeminent national and international conservation organization
Requirements
  • Proven track record of building and sustaining innovative partnerships
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including community members, public officials, and professional colleagues
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Passion for conservation and the leadership role of zoos worldwide in its pursuit
  • Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents
