Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Accounts Payable function, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable inbox and process PO and non-PO invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with critical vendors, ensuring prompt payment and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to improve processing efficiencies and minimize risks associated with credit holds and backlogs.
  • Oversee vendor and invoice management, including reconciliation of vendor accounts statements, vendor inquiries, and vendor records in our ERP System.
  • Backfill for processing manual payments and semi-monthly check runs as needed.
  • Assist with AP initiatives and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounts Payable function.
  • Support external and internal audits and other management requests as required.

Requirements:

  • College Diploma or University degree in Accounting or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting or accounts payable, preferably in the mining/construction/engineering/energy industry.
  • Proficiency with large, multi-functional ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
  • Strong analytical skills, highly organized, and technology-focused, with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with a flexible and creative approach to dealing with new and challenging situations.
  • Experience in managing financial process improvements or system implementation.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Bilingual (English and French) candidates are preferred.
