The Director of Procurement will oversee and enhance all facets of the global procurement process, ensuring that the organization meets its operational and financial goals. This role, emphasizing experience in pharmaceutical sourcing and vendor networks, is crucial for aligning procurement processes with the highest standards of quality, compliance, and innovation within the dynamic pharmaceutical sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Strategy & Operations

  • Formulate and implement a global procurement strategy that aligns with organizational requirements and departmental growth, with a vision for one-, three-, and five-year projections.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive sourcing strategy on a global scale.
  • Collaborate with essential stakeholders to ascertain business needs and requirements.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, market trends, and technological advancements in sourcing and procurement, recommending and executing process enhancements as necessary.
  • Identify and apply cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Streamline procurement processes to boost efficiency and minimize lead times.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to foster continuous improvement.

Vendor & Relationship Management

  • Strategically broaden and diversify the pharmaceutical vendor network to strengthen Medisca's competitive edge.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers globally, particularly in China, promoting open communication, trust, and collaboration to ensure a reliable and sustainable value chain.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, securing favorable terms and conditions for the organization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Pricing & Product Profitability, Demand Planning, and Logistics to ensure the success of procurement strategies.

Performance Reporting and Analysis

  • Establish and monitor key metrics and KPIs to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the procurement function.
  • Analyze data to uncover trends, areas for enhancement, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and strategic insights to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
  • Work with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of procurement-related expenses.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with procurement activities, collaborating closely with legal and compliance teams.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect Medisca's interests.
  • Ensure procurement activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

People Management

  • Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture.
  • Guide team members to excel in their roles through mentorship and coaching.
  • Promote a high-performance culture within the team that emphasizes operational excellence.
  • Set clear goals and objectives, monitoring performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Over eight years of proven experience in procurement, with a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity.
  • Extensive experience in sourcing pharmaceutical raw materials.
  • Technical/scientific knowledge of APIs and the GMP regulatory environment for various countries and regions.
  • Familiarity with AI and technology to enhance efficiencies is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills; fluency in French and English (oral & written) is essential.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using SRP/ERP/MRP systems (Syspro is an asset).
  • Experience with BI or other reporting tools.
  • A collaborative team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-on approach, able to prioritize tasks, embrace challenges, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to track, drive results, and take accountability, building positive relationships with ease and influencing at all levels.
