Position Overview:
We are looking for a Head of Procurement Systems and Strategies to become a vital part of our team at WSP Canada. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Procurement and will play a crucial role in aligning procurement initiatives with WSP Canada's overarching strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and vendor relations, specifically tailored to the Canadian landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project-Focused Procurement: Design and execute agile procurement processes and tools that facilitate rapid project delivery as well as manage complex projects.
  • Process Design & Optimization: Create, implement, and document system-based processes and tools to onboard, pre-qualify, and manage external suppliers as part of our ERP rollout.
  • Collaborative Implementation: Work closely with the Global Procurement team and Canadian operations to effectively deploy procurement processes, considering our hybrid Global Procurement model.
  • Management Reporting: Develop management reporting dashboards utilizing Power BI tools.
  • Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing the necessary guidance and support for effective performance.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations, conducting procurement activities in an ethical and transparent manner.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost savings and process enhancements, while monitoring market trends to adjust procurement strategies as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project-based procurement or supply chain management, ideally within the engineering sector, demonstrating a successful track record in a similar capacity.
  • Extensive experience with the implementation of procurement software and tools, along with the ability to pinpoint opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities, with experience in overseeing a team of procurement professionals.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in fostering collaborative relationships across the organization to achieve corporate objectives.
  • Ability to formulate and execute effective procurement strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of market trends and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
