The Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director to join our Group Risk Management team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of data and model governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of data and model governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data quality controls and procedures.
- Develop and maintain model inventory management systems, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Lead issue management and prepare issue memo closures.
- Develop control frameworks, guidelines, and procedures.
- Design and implement controls and quality assurance tools.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g., Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science).
- Expertise in programming and querying languages (e.g., SQL, Python).
- Strong knowledge and experience in data management, model governance, and risk concepts.
- Prior working experience with model risk management frameworks, quality assurance frameworks, risk mitigation, and issue remediation.
- Strong knowledge of data quality controls and procedures documentation.
- Effective communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to quality and accuracy with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strategic thinking skills with proven ability to drive results in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong organizational awareness, demonstrated ability to anticipate risks and issues and escalate when required.
- Proven collaboration, impact, influence, and change management capabilities across business, IT, and functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of environmental and social data landscapes: common challenges and available solutions.
- Risk management experience, particularly in relation to environmental and social risks.
