About the Role

The Clinical Dietitian is entrusted with delivering competent, safe, and ethical professional services to patients, families, and the community. This role involves providing expert advice on dietary practices and nutritional needs across various healthcare settings. The Dietitian plays a pivotal role in leading initiatives that promote the nutritional well-being of patients, focusing on the prevention, identification, and management of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy through the Nutrition Care Process. Additionally, the Dietitian is involved in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, which includes mentoring and guiding Dietetic Students.

The Dietitian is committed to utilizing an evidence-based approach in their practice.

As a vital member of the Nutrition and Food Services team, the Dietitian enhances client care by collaborating with healthcare professionals, sharing nutritional knowledge, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a diverse range of healthcare services. These services are delivered within a holistic, client-centered framework that aligns with our mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives.

About You

We are eager to connect with candidates who possess the following qualifications:


• Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from an accredited institution

• Completion of a Dietetic Internship Program is essential

• Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists is required

• A minimum of one year of experience working as a dietitian is preferred

• Experience in inpatient clinical nutrition is an asset

• Proficiency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition

• Experience in patient counseling

• Current WHMIS certification is advantageous

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and work effectively under time constraints

• Active participation in continuing education and skill enhancement

• Capability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional healthcare team

• Competencies in additional languages are a plus

Work Schedule
  • Permanent-Part time, 20% FTE, 15 hours biweekly
  • Work hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compensation and Benefits

$43.43 per hour
