Valard, a leading utility contractor in Canada, is seeking skilled professionals to fill the positions of Journeymen Powerline Technicians and Apprentices. As part of the Valard Group of Companies and the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America, we offer a dynamic work environment and opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and construction of distribution lines, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain various types of heavy equipment, ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Work at heights, climbing wood pole structures, and experience in craning and rigging is required.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to provide crucial support to Valard's projects.
  • Meet the requirements for a qualified Red Seal Journeymen Powerline Technician, including a Class 5 license and experience in 25kV Rubber Glove work.
Requirements
  • Red Seal Journeymen Powerline Technician certification.
  • Class 5 license minimum, with preference given to 1 & 3 license.
  • Experience in climbing wood pole structures.
  • Experience/training in craning and rigging.
  • 25kV Rubber Glove experience considered an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience working on ATCO and Fortis utility systems.
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining various types of heavy equipment.
  • Experience in maintenance and construction of distribution lines, coupled with the ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Qualified switchman for ATCO and Fortis systems considered an asset.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours.
  • Safety-oriented mindset.
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic.
