Calian Group Ltd. is seeking a Bilingual Mental Health Specialist. This remote position offers the chance to be part of a vibrant team with flexible working hours and competitive compensation.
The Mental Health Specialist team is tasked with the critical role of assessing documents and submissions from claimants and the Correctional Service of Canada. Their findings and conclusions will be reported to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice or the Superior Court of Québec.
Key Responsibilities:- Engaging in necessary orientation or training, including Protocol, IT, and security protocols.
- Reviewing and assessing:
- Submissions from claimants.
- Submissions from the Department of Justice.
- Documentation from the claimant's Correctional Service of Canada file stored in the database.
- Evaluating whether the claimant has a Serious Mental Illness diagnosis as reported to Correctional Service Canada, which has affected the claimant in accordance with the class definition.
- Drafting reports that detail findings and conclusions regarding the claimant's eligibility and any harm identified in the Damages Grid outlined in the Protocol.
- Collaborating with the Administrator to ensure the timely exchange of information and delivery of reports to the Court and the Administrator within set deadlines.
- Adhering to all directives and guidance from the Lead Mental Health Specialist to ensure proper oversight and monitoring of the assessment process.
- Providing necessary office space, supplies, and resources to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the Protocol, including a secure internet connection.
- Current practicing registration in good standing with the relevant College/Association based on professional discipline and location.
- Licensed as a registered nurse in any Canadian jurisdiction, with substantial and recent experience in mental health.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex clinical data, providing assessments based on written information and making authoritative decisions using professional expertise.
- Specialized knowledge of psychopathology and mental and behavioral disorders, including aetiology and diagnostic processes (familiarity with DSM criteria and Serious Mental Illness), assessment of treatment needs, treatment modalities, and medical prognosis.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in forensic health, correctional health, or psychiatric care.
- Experience in adjudication related to medically based disability programs is advantageous.
- Work must be conducted from the Lead Manager/Expert's business location within Canada.
- Proficiency in using computerized information systems, the internet, Microsoft Office applications, and electronic spreadsheets is essential.
- Bilingualism in French and English is mandatory.
- Ability to work autonomously.
