Position: Network Operations Engineering Specialist
Location: Montreal, QC
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract Duration: 1 year

Key Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in IP Routing Protocols: Expertise in BGP routing.
  • Understanding of Routing Protocols: Knowledge of the distinctions between IGP and BGP.
  • Configuration Skills: Experience in network configuration.
  • Scripting Knowledge: Familiarity with scripting languages.
  • Networking Technologies: Understanding of spanning tree protocols.
  • OSPF Expertise: Knowledge of OSPF version 2.


Job Overview:
- Responsible for the deployment and management of network infrastructure, focusing on new connectivity for data centers, branches, and campus expansions.
- Capable of initiating new sites or Points of Distribution (PODs) and integrating them with existing systems.
- Troubleshooting and enabling routing protocol issues within spine/leaf topologies, VxLAN, and VRF configurations.
- Serve as the escalation point for production outages related to daily operations or project-driven initiatives.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of data networking principles and experience with routers and switches.
- Collaborate with hardware vendors, including Cisco and Arista.
- Familiarity with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and VRF, as well as concepts related to underlay and overlay networks.
- Ability to analyze packet captures is advantageous, along with a strong grasp of technologies necessary for managing high-speed networks.

Expertise Required:
- Advanced skills in decoding packet captures and identifying network and application issues using tools like Wireshark.

Hardware Proficiencies:
  • Cisco: Switches and Routers
  • Juniper: Routers
  • Arista: Switches

Networking Technologies:
  • Ethernet: Spanning tree, VLANs, trunking, channeling, multilayer switching.
  • WAN: MPLS/VPN.
  • IP Routing Protocols: OSPF, BGP, RIP.
  • Multicast Routing: PIM, IGMP, MSDP.

Additional Skills:
- Proficient in Visio, PowerPoint, Unix, and scripting.
- Hands-on experience in creating and utilizing Splunk dashboards is a significant advantage.
