About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at Canadian National Railway Company. As a key member of our Information & Technology (I&T) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, stability, and performance of our network and telecom infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and execute installations/upgrades, configuration, and maintenance of the networking infrastructure.
  2. Review and approve change controls.
  3. Quality review of infrastructure changes and implementations.
  4. Lead "Life cycle projects" initiatives (analyze, test, deploy).
  5. Lead problem investigation and follow-up on resolution.
  6. Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  7. Monitor and maintain system availability and performance.
  8. Work with other team members to develop and implement process improvement.
  9. Take ownership in defining key performance indicators (KPIs) related to capacity and performance.
  10. Create and maintain operational documentation.
  11. Advanced troubleshooting, vulnerability, and bug corrections with vendors.
  12. Ensure compliance with all appropriate CN IT standards.
  13. Train and coach team on new capabilities and upcoming technology trends.
  14. Automate and optimize support tasks.
  15. Provide 3rd Level support to pager roster (24/7) rotation basis.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Telecommunications specialization preferred.
  2. 5+ years in IT with a minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated experience in providing hands-on technical expertise within large corporate environments.
  3. Expertise in LAN/WAN technologies, IPAM.
  4. Expertise in Datacenter technologies (Leaf and spine technology).
  5. Knowledge and troubleshooting skills in EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP, MP-BGP, MPLS, redistribution between different routing protocols.
  6. Knowledge of TCP/IP stack, IPv4, TCP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, GRE, IPSEC, ESP, NAT, DHCP, DNS, FHRPs, QoS, SNMP, Tacacs, Radius.
  7. Knowledge of Cisco Wi-Fi networks, including Cisco Prime, WLCs, APs, ISE, and all related technologies.
  8. Experience/knowledge in SD-WAN solutions.
  9. Knowledge in cloud solutions (Google, Azure).
  10. Experience and knowledge in operations and optimization of IP networks.
  11. Good understanding of communications media (fibre, copper, wireless) and structured cabling best practices.
  12. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  13. Cisco CCNP/CCIE Certification or equivalent knowledge.
