Position Title: Metal Fabrication Trainee

Eligibility: All qualified individuals are encouraged to submit their applications; however, preference will be given to CUPE members.

Overview:

The selected candidate will engage in apprentice-level metalworking tasks adhering to established industry standards. Responsibilities encompass:

  • Executing various welding and cutting techniques including SMAW, GMAW, GTMAW, FCAW, RSW, oxy-acetylene, and plasma cutting.
  • Utilizing an array of metal fabrication machinery such as cold bar benders, pipe benders, iron workers, sheet metal rollers, metal brakes, and shears.
  • Performing additional related responsibilities as necessary.

Work may be conducted across multiple locations and may involve tasks at heights or in confined spaces.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants must have completed foundational training at an accredited institution aimed at Journey-person Certification in the respective trade. Candidates currently pursuing pre-apprenticeship training will also be considered. Eligibility for entry into the apprenticeship program under the Department of Education (Industrial Training Section) is required. A valid driver's license and driver's abstract from the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador are mandatory.

Compensation: $35,347 - $59,344 annually based on the year of the apprenticeship program.
