This opportunity may be utilized to fill similar roles within the department in the upcoming months.
Eligibility: All qualified individuals are encouraged to submit their applications; however, preference will be given to current union members.
Role Overview:
The selected candidate will engage in apprentice-level metalworking activities adhering to industry standards. Responsibilities include:
- Executing various welding and cutting techniques such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTMAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), oxy-acetylene welding, and plasma cutting.
- Utilizing an array of metal fabrication machinery, including but not limited to cold bar benders, pipe benders, ironworkers, sheet metal rollers, metal brakes, and shears.
- Performing additional related tasks as necessary.
Work may be conducted across various locations and may involve tasks at heights or in confined spaces.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates should have completed foundational training at an accredited institution aimed at achieving Journey-person Certification in the relevant trade. Individuals currently pursuing pre-apprenticeship training will also be considered. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for the apprenticeship program as outlined by the Department of Education (Industrial Training Section). A valid driver's license and a clean driving record, as mandated by provincial regulations, are required.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $35,347 - $59,344 annually, commensurate with the year of the apprenticeship program.
