Job Title: Administrative Assistant

The City of Melville is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our Recreation and Programming team. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative and clerical support to our Recreation and Programming Manager, ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and programs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Front Counter Reception and Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to the public, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and photocopying, as well as maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Assist with event planning, coordination, and execution, including scheduling, catering, and logistics.
  • Financial Transactions: Process and balance cash, cheque, and credit card payments, as well as perform other related financial duties.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, ice user groups, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • Education: Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent, with a focus on office education and/or business administration.
  • Skills: High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Adobe software, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a public sector environment, with a focus on administrative and clerical support.
