Water/Flood Technician Job Description

About the Role:

BELFOR Restoration is seeking a skilled Water/Flood Technician to join our team. As a key member of our emergency response and restoration team, you will be responsible for ensuring insurance company and customer goals are met through water remediation procedures in accordance with IICRCS-500 Standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide water pumping and extraction services on job sites
  • Conduct mold remediation, moving and re-setting contents, selective demolition, and debris disposal
  • Set up drying equipment and perform carpet cleaning
  • Capable of moisture mapping the affected area, inclusive of temperature, relative humidity, and moisture content readings
  • Participate in vehicle safety and maintenance inspections, and ensure vehicle is cleaned and restocked at end of shift
  • Construct polyethylene enclosures and maintain equipment
  • Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices

Requirements:

  • IICRC certification for Water Restoration Technician (WRT) required
  • IICRC certification for Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) an asset
  • Previous construction, restoration, or insurance experience considered an asset
  • Familiarity with chemical products, including use, disposal, and Safety Data Sheets
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices
  • Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR's vehicle policy
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-driven to achieve goals and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted
  • Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted
  • Access and mobility in tight spaces
  • Fit Testing – half and full face mask as needed, annual certification required
  • Working at Heights - over 5 feet, periodically
  • Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling
