About Relief Collective:
The Relief Collective serves as Islamic Relief Canada's charity shop, offering an online platform for supporters to help break the cycle of poverty through the purchase of ethically sourced products and merchandise. Proceeds from the Relief Collective directly fund our global projects and programs.

Job Purpose:
The Business Operations Manager will oversee all facets of the Relief Collective's operations, including inventory oversight, logistics coordination, customer service management, and financial administration. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the charity shop, optimizing processes to enhance revenue generation and support for Islamic Relief Canada's humanitarian initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Operations Management
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes and procedures for the daily operations of the Relief Collective.
  • Supervise inventory management, including procurement, stock control, and quality assurance.
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to guarantee timely delivery of products and merchandise.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels to align with customer demand while minimizing excess stock.
  • Implement strategies to optimize warehouse layout and organization for enhanced efficiency.
Logistics and Distribution
  • Oversee shipping and fulfillment operations, including order processing, packaging, and delivery.
  • Negotiate contracts with shipping carriers and logistics partners to ensure cost-effective and reliable services.
  • Address any issues or delays in shipping and delivery processes to uphold high levels of customer satisfaction.
Customer Service
  • Manage customer service operations, including responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and handling returns and exchanges.
  • Implement strategies to improve the customer experience and foster positive relationships with supporters and customers.
  • Monitor customer feedback and satisfaction metrics to identify areas for improvement and take corrective actions.
Financial Administration
  • Oversee financial transactions and reporting for the Relief Collective, including revenue tracking, expense management, and budgeting.
  • Collaborate closely with financial service providers to ensure accurate accounting and financial compliance.
  • Analyze sales data and financial performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for revenue growth.
Team Leadership
  • Manage and guide the work of the Relief Collective team in support of all operational functions.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to team members to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably within a retail or eCommerce context.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems, logistics software, and financial management tools.
  • Familiarity with eCommerce platforms and online retail best practices is an asset.
