Job Title: Legal Counsel, Commercial Law

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Simcoe Muskoka Family Connections. As a Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for representing the Agency in all legal matters pertaining to children in need of protection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the Agency in all legal matters related to children in need of protection
  • Prepare and present cases in Superior Court of Justice, Family Court, and appeals
  • Provide legal consultation to Agency staff on matters relevant to protection case work
  • Work closely with Senior Legal Counsel to ensure effective representation of the Agency
Requirements:
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario
  • Sound knowledge of the legislation dealing with children and families, particularly the Child, Youth and Family Services Act
  • Strong skill set in mediation with other parties regarding the best interests of the child and the Agency
  • Demonstrated competence and skill in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a highly desired asset
