Job Summary:

The Building Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our employees and visitors. This includes sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing floors, as well as dusting furniture and vacuuming carpeting and upholstered furniture.

Responsibilities:
  • Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Dust furniture and fixtures to ensure a clean and tidy workspace
  • Vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture to maintain a clean and comfortable environment
  • Handle and report lost and found items to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
  • Pick up debris and empty trash containers to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Wash windows, walls, and ceilings to maintain a clean and tidy workspace
Requirements:
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • Will train on the job
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees
  • Support social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees
  • Recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster
  • Offer mentorship programs to pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees
  • Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities and organizations
  • Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees
  • Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers

Language of Work: English

Hours of Work: 32 hours per week

Duration: Permanent
