Job Title: Finance - Payroll Coordinator

Our team is committed to delivering exceptional customer service while promoting a team-first environment. We specialize in multi-temperature warehousing, distribution, freight and transportation management, pick and pack fulfilment, cross-docking and transloading.

The Finance team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the company's finances and maintaining healthy relationships with vendors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and oversee bi-weekly payroll for over 270 employees across three provinces.
  • Provide payroll support to a US-based company in California with approximately 60 employees.
  • Research and communicate payroll rules and regulations in the provinces where our business operates.
  • Create and set up new rules and regulations in our payroll software, ensuring they are tested and ready to implement prior to the start of operations.
  • Answer employee and management inquiries related to payroll.
  • Generate Pension & Insurable Earnings Review (PIER) and validate necessary discrepancies, reconcile and issue T4's.
  • Create and report monthly financial labor analysis to management.
  • Perform miscellaneous reporting related to payroll as requested by management or other personnel.
  • Reconcile accounts, including vacation GL accounts.
  • Complete payroll-related grants or subsidies offered by the government.
  • Stay current with new or upcoming payroll rules and regulations announced by the government.
  • Perform data entry and reconciliation of timecards on payroll software, as needed.
  • Provide expertise and participate in projects utilizing Dayforce functionality.
  • Assist with other accounting tasks as required.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years' experience running payroll in a dynamic environment – hourly and salary, multi-province.
  • Proficiency with Dayforce payroll software required.
  • Knowledgeable and able to adhere to payroll rules and regulations in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan.
  • Some experience with California payroll compliance required.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills with MS Office and Excel specifically.
  • Strong computer, organizational, administrative and numeracy skills.
  • Good command of the English language.
