ABOUT THIS POSITION

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a qualified Plumbing Technician to enhance our Service Division. This role is ideal for individuals who are hands-on, customer-focused, and possess a strong technical aptitude. The position will report to the Service Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a robust work ethic, eagerness to learn, a positive attitude, and a true passion for plumbing. Service Plumbers must be proficient in various pipe joining techniques, comfortable using standard industry tools, and skilled in interpreting technical documentation. The role may involve extended hours and the handling of heavy materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled maintenance on commercial plumbing and heating systems, including but not limited to boilers, pumps, furnaces, hot water tanks, make-up air units, water filtration systems, and backflow devices.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair issues within commercial plumbing and heating systems.
  • Plan, organize, and execute small-scale repiping, retrofitting, and tenant improvement projects.
  • Complete daily service reports detailing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair actions, including recommendations for service and repairs.
  • Accurately compile labor and material estimates for project recommendations and material procurement.
  • Work independently or collaboratively to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and team members through various channels.
  • Participate in a rotating emergency on-call support schedule.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Plumbing Trade Qualification
  • B-Gas Certification
  • Cross Connection Control Certification
  • A-Gas Certification is an asset.
  • Additional training in WHIMIS, SCOTT, R&R, Mobile Aerial Platform, Fall Protection, and Confined Space is beneficial.

Experience Requirements:

  • Relevant industry experience is required.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and a passion for the trade, even if they do not meet all qualifications.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Valid Class 5 SK Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and mobile applications
