Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a qualified Service Plumber to enhance our Service Division. This role is ideal for a dedicated, customer-focused professional with a strong technical background. The position involves working in a dynamic environment where you will be expected to deliver high-quality plumbing services.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a robust work ethic, eagerness to acquire new skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine enthusiasm for plumbing. Proficiency in various pipe joining techniques, familiarity with industry-standard hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment, as well as the ability to interpret technical documents, are essential. The role may require extended hours and the capacity to handle heavy materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance on commercial plumbing and heating systems, including but not limited to boilers, pumps, furnaces, hot water tanks, and filtration systems.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and rectify issues in commercial plumbing and heating setups.
  • Plan and execute small-scale re-piping, retrofitting, and tenant improvement tasks.
  • Complete daily service documentation detailing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair actions, along with recommendations for further service.
  • Accurately assess labor and material needs for project recommendations and procurement.
  • Work independently or collaboratively to ensure timely and budget-conscious project completion.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, suppliers, and team members through various channels.
  • Participate in a rotating emergency on-call support schedule.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Red Seal Plumbing Trade Qualification
  • B-Gas Certification
  • Cross Connection Control Certification
  • A-Gas Certification is advantageous.
  • Additional training in WHMIS, SCOTT, R&R, Mobile Aerial Platform, Fall Protection, and Confined Space is a plus.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant industry experience is essential.
  • Consideration may be given to candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and a passion for the plumbing trade, even if they do not meet all qualifications.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Valid Class 5 SK Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Maintain professionalism with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and mobile applications
